Advice on determining OS

I am wondering what OS Xyratex is using on their 5412 and 6412 RAID arrays.
I suspect it may be Linux. They have an embedded web based administrator in
the array. They also make web based client software which can be installed
on a Linux initiator attached to the Xyratex array. They web interfaces
appear to be identical, same url structure, etc. The embedded device could
be running a BSD or something but I can not find any mention anywhere of
what OS they actually do run in there. I have run an nmap scan on it and it
did not report anything that made sense. I don't have the IP of the machine
available to rerun the test but I think it said something like GEM network
emulator or something. As soon as I can find the IP of the box in the lab
I'll get the exact answer. Do any of you happen to know or have
recommendations?
