ok, here is an update.
with the help of gotnas i created a script to access the rootfs
directly....i called it simply extract.sh and it can be downloaded here:
http://downloads.nas-central.org/Users/mindbender/HAMMER_MYSHARE/extract.sh
ok....so anyone can extract the rootfs + kernel by executing this:
wget
http://www.hammer-storage.com/downloads/software_updates/N1200_FW_V1-3-3.zip
wget
http://downloads.nas-central.org/Users/mindbender/HAMMER_MYSHARE/extract.sh
chmod 755 extract.sh
unzip N1200_FW_V1-3-3.zip
./extract.sh
some info that i gathered:
~/HAMMER-NAS/img$ ls
backup_list ROOTFS_FULL_EXTRACTED rootfs_full.tar.gz.md5 uImage.md5
fw.ver rootfs_full.tar.gz uImage
~/HAMMER-NAS/img$ strings uImage|grep Linux
Linux-2.6.12.6-arm1
Uncompressing Linux...
~/HAMMER-NAS/img$ cd ROOTFS_FULL_EXTRACTED/
~/HAMMER-NAS/img/ROOTFS_FULL_EXTRACTED$ ls
bin dev home linuxrc opt proto sbin tmp usr www
DataVolume etc lib mnt proc root shares trustees var
~/HAMMER-NAS/img/ROOTFS_FULL_EXTRACTED$ ls etc/
auto_mount_list group ld.so.cache openssl.cnf

S96wixalarm S99sxminit _SK85ntpdated
rcS S10portmap S55mini_httpd S70cupsd S95windbindd
S98logrotate _SK80nfsd
i have checked that at at least
/usr/bin/openssl
/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7
/usr/sbin/cupsd
/usr/sbin/smbd and /usr/sbin/nmbd
/sbin/vsftpd
/bin/busybox
are there....there are many more things, but hey, this is obvious.
They definitely violate the GPL if they do not release a GPL source
package soon.
