Well, I can say that Matt Domsch is the linux guy at dell.
I think just posting this question on their linux forum would
suffice.
They are even eager to fix up vendor politic issues for you.
(There was a dell representative in the Netherlands that said
that linux was already dead, and everybody will be using windows,
and that serial consoles really were only used by us, and nobody
else uses it etc...)
