GPL-licensed binary plugins

Hello,

I'm investigating the situation with Hanlin eBook (current status is at
http://openinkpot.org/wiki/BinariesLicenseInvestigation), and need help
with the following situation:

* plugin (shared library) links to the GPL library.
* program loads the plugin run-time, so it does not link to it, but uses
  dlopen() instead
* both program and plugin are distributed together.

Binary plugin is obviously GPL. Is the program which loads this plugin
also GPL?
