Shareware distributed along with Linux Life System?

Before doing anything evil I have a kind of newbie question.
If "off topic" in this list please give me a hint where to put this
question.
Assumed someone masters a GPL'd Linux Life System which automatically
installes an application on HD when first time started. After
installation it
starts this application automatically on each reboot.
Assumed this application is not GPL'd (has a proprietary license) and
can
be used on a normal Linux system other than the life system above as
well
when properly installed.
Assumed the vendor of this proprietary licensed application fulfilles
all
requirements of distributing the Linux life system above (including all
required sources of the life system, the GPL itself, the scripts used
for
installing and starting the application etc...) and distributes this
life
system as a bootable Cd image containing the required installation files
for the proprietary licensed application as well.
Question: Would this distribution violate the GPL?
In case of YES a second question: Would it violate the GPL if the
application
is _not_ distributed on the life system CD (the CD contains only GPL'd
software and is distributed under GPL), but the life system
automatically
installes the proprietary licensed application when fist time started,
from
somewhere on the net or from another medium (CD, floppy, memory stick
etc.)?
Thanks
