well. there are drivers , then there are drivers..
the interfaces are quite standard hardwarewise and you really dont _have_ to
implement those protocols in kernelspace and using GPL code.. you can implement
them in userspace on top of the normal userspace stuff quite legally.

that is what i would say if I had legal drivers in userspace.. but my answer would have
been "we use unmodified RTlinux, please get the source from RTLinux website or if you want
to be difficult, mail us with a self-addressed envelope containing a single CD-R"
