Paolo,
is it that hard for you to follow what you've been told regarding
translators and/or the quality of your English?
Being the kind person that I am, since I'm a native Italian speaker
(and I guess you too), I'll do the hard work and write everything both
in Italian and in English.
Do the same.
È così difficile per te seguire le istruzioni che ti sono state
fornite riguardo l'uso di traduttori automatici e/o la qualità del tuo
inglese? Dato che mi sento gentile scriverò sia in inglese che in
italiano. Fà lo stesso nelle tue risposte.

First, that software is not free. Period. End of story.
They only say it's "open source." That's all.
Primo, quel programma non è libero. Punto. Fine della storia.
Loro dicono solo che è "open source." Fine.
Second, the two things are completely unrelated.
Secondo, le due cose sono separate.
Let me put it this way.
You have the software (and possibly source code)?
You're free to do whatever the license allows you to do, and, doing
so, you're also bound by its restrictions.
You don't have it (neither in binary nor in source form)?
Too bad, the GPL doesn't apply.
Mettiamola così:
Hai il programma in una qualche forma? La GPL si applica e ti da i
privilegi e obblighi contrattuali corrispondenti.
Non hai il programma in nessuna forma? Peccato, la GPL non si applica.
Moreover, as others have already said, the author can do every thing
he pleases with his program. He can rightfully say that you have to
pay him a zillion dollars with a black AmEx card while playing guitar
with your tongue to get the GPL'ed program.
Come già ti è stato detto, l'autore può fare quello che vuole col suo
programma. Può chiedere che tu debba pagare uno zilione di dollari con
una carta American Express nera mentre suoni la chitarra con la tua
lingua per ottenere il programma.

You're not entitled to any "FREEDOM."
Non hai diritto a nessuna "LIBERTÀ." (riguardo quel programma)

Good. Now get it and use it according to the GPL.
Ottimo. Scaricalo e usalo secondo la GPL.

Again, that program is NOT free software.
Ancora, quel programma NON è software libero.

I don't think I'm the only one here saying: Who cares?
Non penso di essere il solo nella lista a dire che non mi interessa.
