hi,
I saw here:
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=72671
and here:
http://old.nabble.com/DSP-acceleration-support---td26762529.html
That the SmartQ devices, which have an ubuntu firmware (an example
of the many firmware is hosted here:
http://www.smartdevices.com.cn/files/SmartQV5-Linux-V5.5.rar )
didn't publish the sources for the video decoding offload.
According to an IRC conversation in #mer they first used mplayer, then
vlc:
<ShadowJK> iirc the kernel module responsible for it is called mfc
<ShadowJK> or possible s3c_mfc
<ShadowJK> something like that
<ShadowJK> There are lots of leaked datasheets and specs, and the
interface looks pretty sane and sensible even
<ShadowJK> If I remember
correctly, the binary kernel module has a Samsung Copyright on it
<ShadowJK> and the modified MPlayer had a hhcn string in its version
<GNUtoo|oeee> ok
<GNUtoo|oeee> so it's not vlc but mplayer
<ShadowJK> no it's vlc in latest firmware I think
So I think the good way to solve this issue would be to send them a
friendly mail asking them for the sources, specially after that :
<Stskeeps> GNUtoo|oeee: mail them and ask, they are fairly
appproachable
<GNUtoo|oeee> ok
<Stskeeps> we got kernel pushes without even asking, so
<GNUtoo|oeee> ok thanks a lot
<Stskeeps> the problem might be that its s3c stuff
But I've no prior experience in writing mails that ask for the
sources, and I'm afraid to makes mistakes, specially because they
are based in china(but in another hand they are european resellers
like
http://eshopen.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=71 )
I also think that's it's wise to consult people who are used to do
that, because If I do it alone I'm afraid to fail, like for
the Chitec/Midfun request.
Denis.
