dear kimberly,
i thought it best to keep you informed of the ongoing situation with
respect to the inability of chitech to honour the GPL and LGPL free
software licenses. you are one of several hundred possibly thousands
of companies that violate the GPL and LGPL free software licenses.
normally, when the company's actions are made public, by posting them
on legal at lists.gpl-violations.org, the company reacts by complying.
chitech has reacted by silence. this is _not_ good.
therefore i have had no choice but to escalate this further, by
referring you to the Free Software Foundation, whom you will be
hearing from in the future, if you haven't already. this is just the
beginning: there are several thousand more software developers whose
copyright material you are stealing, whom i can - and will - notify of
your ongoing theft.
i have said it nine times and i will say it a tenth time: i cannot
emphasise enough how important it is that you comply with the GPL and
LGPL licenses and provide the source code of ALL free software
projects that you are using WITHOUT fail and WITHOUT conditions that
you are not entitled to add. or, more specifically, if you _try_ to
add, then you are in non-compliance with the GPL and you are at risk
from being sued for copyright theft, or possibly simply referred to
the police and fined or jailed.
the Free Software Foundation takes the protection of its copyright
material VERY SERIOUSLY, and the packages in which you are in
violation of includes libc6, bash, gnome packages...
and that's just the beginning.
you have embarked on an incredibly serious course of action which
could have absolutely disastrous consequences, possibly resulting in
jail for the factory owner, and i am trying REALLY hard to make it
plain and simple enough for you to understand.
HONOUR THE GPL LICENSE, and all these problems which you are bringing
on yourself will go away.
i do not understand why you do not understand the seriousness of
trying to steal the copyright material of tens of thousands of
software developers.
perhaps you could explain to me why you do not see this as being a problem?
many thanks,
l.
