Sure there is.  You find a bunch of differences, work out what routine
they're in, perhaps thanks to nearby strings, and then see from the
disassembly whether the two variants are still performing the same
function.  They probably won't be.  You then see which matches the
source and can point out the other doesn't because it does
such-and-such.
