There's been a positive development here, although not one that brings
the product into GPL compliance.

Thanks to the excellent efforts of Harald Welte, VIA have made available
most of their kernel source for the WM8505:

Unfortunately the video & SD/MMC drivers are still binary only object
files. Harald says he's chasing that up with VIA.

No developments yet for the custom u-boot or anything else.

Will be interesting to see if any of the device manufacturers pick up on
this. The common excuse for non-GPL-compliance seems to be "we don't
have source to give" so they now have an opportunity to make a token
effort at complying, if they are interested.
