FYI, Harald Welte has just posted to his blog more details and sources
for Wondermedia's WM8505 source release.

There is also a link to a new kernel tarball that contains source code
including the video driver source that was previously missing.
The only binary component in the tarball is a kernel module for "WMT AHB
to SD/MMC Bridge driver"
IMHO, this is a really good outcome. Even though I have yet to hear of
any changes of attitude from Eken or any of the other device
manufacturers, it opens the door for community open source development
on these devices.

PS One thing Harald Welte points out in his blog is the mistaken
confusion between VIA and Wondermedia. He reminds us that they are
distinct companies with separate management structures. One point he
does not make, which I believe is still true, is that Wondermedia is a
wholly owned subsidiary of VIA.
