iPhone/iPod Applications in Apple App Store

Hi,

I've come along several applications in Apple's App Store that clearly
derive from open source applications.
None of these vendors is making the source code available with their
product or include a written offer.
They also do not include a copy of the GPL and they don't indicate
that the apps contain GPL software.

For one specific application I've collected concrete evidence and
wrote to the software vendor.
I told the vendor that public disclosure has not been made and asked
this vendor for his point of view.

Surprisingly I got a answer within a few hours.
The vendor indirectly acknowledged that the application was derived
from that GPL software but wrote that a lot of code had to be changed
because the iPhone environment is very different from UNIX and
therefore he does not see a violation of the GPL (... welll, no
comment on that.) .

In addition the vendor wrote that they cannot release the source, as
the license with Apple, does not allow
any source relating to the Apple API to be released or discussed.

Can anybody point me to the correct direction how to continue from here?
Should I continue the communication with the vendor or should I just
disclose my findings to license-violation at gpl-violations.org ?

Many Thanks,

Vinz F.
