Hello,
the files are prepared for the service representatives to install them
on the Kyocera Mita FS-1118 (Europe, for the US: KM-1820) Multi Purpose Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax as a firmware *update* for machines in the field.
I do not have access to such a device to verfiy clearly that these devices actually run a copy of this software. But I guess so because it is entitled as a `Firmware update'.
Although, the binaries are intended to be installed on devices that are
relaesed to the public and I would guess that all devices are already shipped with this GPL'ed firmware.
But you are right: I cannot confirm this by now.
So the best thing is to ask Kyocera politely to release the source code?
Just stating that I'm owning such a device and I discoverd that it runs GPL'ed software?
And what's about MontaVista Linux? Do any exemptions apply?
Kind regards
