Hello List,

I bought a serial to wlan converter (see
http://www.datahunter.com/seriallangb.html which is a relabeled runtop
ws4000 see http://www.runtop.com.tw/right_wireless.htm) and while doing
some debugging (dhcp did not work as expected) I discovered the string
"udhcpd-0.9.9pre" in all dhcp packets send by the device. udhcpd is GPLed
Software (see udhcp.busybox.net). Looking at firmware files and the
description of the chipset
(http://www.csie.nctu.edu.tw/~cfliu/work/8650.htm) I think there is a
stripped down linux Kernel and some friends (udhcp, wpa_supplicant,
msredird) inside.

What can I do so that the manufaturer opens the source and documentation of
the device?

regards Thomas
